Early Childhood Australia NSW is a volunteer run organisation promoting the voice for young children and supporting professionals working in the field of Early Childhood Education. Members of the Executive come from different organisation representing community based, private centres, Family day care, OOSCH services, Training organisations, consultants and universities. ECA NSW sit on many committees to be an active voice for members.

Conversations coming to Parramatta

Hello  Parramatta and district,

ECA NSW is holding a conversation night at Parramatta.

Thursday 8th August, 2019

6 pm for networking supper, 6.30-8.30 pm

Cost Free.

Next Thursday 8th August, 2019. The board of Early Childhood Australia, NSW Branch will be in attendance at a conversations evening in Parramatta,  as will regional representatives from all over NSW. The evening will allow for conversations about what is happening in Early Childhood in your area. We would really appreciate your ideas and conversation.

Our Guest speaker is Ljiljana Kocic.

Ljiljana won the NSW Premier’s Teachers Award last year and has completed her research into creativity in the early years visiting centres in California, New York and Oregon. Some centres are Reggio inspired. Her talk will be full of hands on ideas on how to build creativity in your early years environment.


Ljiljana has sent through her blog details. A terrific, motivating read for creative ideas.

Scholarships available for National Conference in Hobart 25-28th September, 2019.

The NSW branch of Early Childhood Australia is sponsoring four scholarships to the ECA National Conference to be held in Hobart 25-28th September, 2019.

The scholarships are for full registrations plus part payment of accommodation and travel.

There are 4 scholarships available.

1 Educator with  CERT III (Early Childhood)

1 Educator with Diploma qualification (Early Childhood)

1  teacher with Bachelor of Education (EC)

1 Educator from an Indigenous background

Code of Ethics workshop in 2019

Early Childhood Australia is pleased to present the Ethics in Action Workshop, Engaging with the ECA Code of Ethics.

This series of five (5) half-day workshops will be held across regional New South Wales and facilitated by Catharine Hydon, co-author of ECA Code of Ethics and Ethics in Action: A practical guide to implementing the ECA Code of Ethics.


About the workshops

Informed by ECA’s Code of Ethics and referencing ECA’s recent publication, Ethics in Action: A practical guide to implementing the ECA Code of Ethicsthese workshops will explore the ethical dimensions of our work and strengthen our capacity to make more effective and respectful decisions. Using the guide to support our professional thinking, participants will be invited to practice the art of ethical decision-making, and work together to reinforce approaches that enhance the rights and wellbeing of children, families, our colleagues and the community.

The workshops are suitable for anyone working with young children (aged birth to eight) and their families, including:

  • service leaders, educational leaders, teachers and educators working in centre-based early learning services, such as long day care and outside school hours care
  • teachers and educational support staff working in preschool/kindergarten settings
  • family day care educators
  • professionals employed in family support services, maternal and child health or supported playgroup programs
  • teachers working in the early years of primary school education.
